What’s in constitutions? The Comparative Constitutions Project identifies and tracks hundreds of topics in constitutional texts over time.  Depending on where and when they are written, constitutions vary in terms of what topics they address. Some topics become more popular over time, while others go the way of the horse-drawn carriage or the fax machine.

Use the visualizations below to discover the prevalence of roughly seventy topics over time and by region—mouse over the timeline to update the map—or further explore these topics and others in the menu at the bottom of the page.
